Unicorecomm won National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology
On January 8, 2016, Unicorecomm, subsidiary of BDStar, won second prize in National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology with Multi-system Multi-frequency Satellite Navigation Positioning Key Technology and SoC Chip Industrial Application, and become the first BeiDou chip to receive this honor.
Multi-system Multi-frequency Satellite Navigation Positioning Key Technology and SoC Chip Industrial Application project involves innovative core technology of China’s BeiDou satellite navigation system. Project results include several high performance SoC chips that have been in large-scale production and application. These chips cover positioning precision of meter-level, sub-meter-level, cm-level and mm-level, and have achieved sales volume of over 2 million pieces and remarkable economic and social benefits in civil and commercial markets and military and civilian integration field as well.
This project has ended China's long lack of self-developed satellite navigation chip, upgraded China's satellite navigation industry from low-end to high-end in global industrial chain and has been highly-praised by industry experts.
Experts point out that as the world's first GNSS chip that supports all existing satellite navigation systems, this project has filled in international and domestic gap and achieved international leading level, which greatly propelled China's satellite navigation industrialization and ended long-term dependence on imported high precision measurement products and navigation/timing service products.
However, this is not the first time for BDStar to win National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology. Glead Electronics, another subsidiary of BDStar, has won second prize of National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology in 2009 with Key Technology for Low Temperature Co-firing Plate Multilayer Microwave Ceramic Micro-device Industrialization.
