Product Release | High Precision Dual-antenna RTK Positioning and Heading Module UM982

Unicore officially released its new generation of GNSS positioning product – UM982, a high-precision dual-antenna RTK positioning and heading module supporting all constellations and all frequencies, which is suitable for the applications of UAVs, precision agriculture, autonomous machines, etc. The module is directed at requirements of the application market and focused on technological innovation, supporting BDS B1I/B2I/B3I, GPS L1/L2/L5, GLONASS L1/L2, Galileo E1/E5a/E5b, QZSS L1/L2/L5 and SBAS in dual-antenna mode, with small size, low power consumption, high performance, high precision, high reliability, high integration and other advantages.

1) Small Size

UM982 is highly integrated, with a size of only 16.0 × 21.0 × 2.6 mm, being a pioneer in the compact design of dual-antenna heading modules, reducing the design area of the customer board by 72% and saving cost.

2) Low Power Consumption

Low power consumption means less energy usage and better application experience. Lowering the power consumption while keeping the good performance is one of the key technical research directions of the GNSS positioning modules. The average power consumption of all versions of UM982 module is less than 0.6 W, which is more suitable for applications that are highly sensitive to power consumption such as UAVs.

3) High Integration

UM982 is developed on the basis of Unicore’s proprietary GNSS SoC—NebulasIV, which integrates RF, baseband and high-precision algorithm on a single chip, characterized by high integration, with various functions built in the SoC, providing powerful support for the high performance of UM982 module.

4) High Precision and High Performance

GNSS SoC is one of the key parts of the navigation system, and the performance of the chip largely determines the performance of the positioning modules. The performance indicators of UM982, such as the raw observation accuracy, RTK positioning accuracy, PPP positioning accuracy, TTFF, etc., have reached the international first-class level.

5) Robustness

Using the self-developed Dual-RTK technology, the two antennas of UM982 can independently participate in RTK solution and output the positioning results, which is convenient for customers to do reliability verification in different application scenarios. By checking the RTK positioning results of both antennas, abnormal measurement in complex scenarios can be avoided.

6) High Reliability

UM982 has strong anti-jamming ability, with the built-in advanced anti-jamming unit, and supports jamming detection, which can output the jamming strength. It also supports digital encryption to ensure the security of data transmission, and supports multi-frequency independent acquisition and tracking to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the positioning results even in complex electromagnetic environment.
